What we can offer

The German Hang Gliding Association provides service for its members:

Hotline

The employees in our offices are available to help and advise all members. Some of them speak English.

DHV-Magazine

Each member receives our magazine "DHV-Info" six times a year free of charge.

The content includes:

- Current news of the paragliding and hang-gliding scene , news from the equipment market, new regulations.
- Accident reports, accident analyses, safety information and technical tips.
- The most important information from test flight protocols about recently authorized paragliders and hang-gliders.
- News about competitions.
- Take off and landing site information, practical tips for flying, flight reports, theoretical issues, scientific tests and surveys, legal and insurance queries, lists of certified equipment.

Insurance

German members can take advantage of the favourable group insurance contracts offered by HDI Global SE. Personal liability insurance, accident insurance and life insurance has been especially created to fit the needs of paragliding and hang-gliding sports. Insurance program and application see here.

Other services

All members are able to advertise and sell equipment online in DHV Gebrauchtmarkt.

Members who are interested in participating in DHV packer courses for rescue equipment can do so free of charge.

DHV members can actively participate in competitions up to German League and German Crosscountry Cup (DHV-XC). The Newcomer Challenges offer opportunities for young up-and-coming pilots and the Ladies.

Important for all of us

The German Hanggliding Association trains hanggliding and paragliding instructors, licenses aviation schools, examines pilots and tests hanggliders, paragliders, harness gear, rescue equipment and winches. All of this is commissioned by the Germany Ministry of Transport and contributes considerably to flight safety.

Our large number of members makes it easier for the DHV to adopt and to represent successfully hanggliders' and paragliders' interests in relation to the authorities, the press, insurance companies and manufacturers. Thanks to this we can maintain our flying freedom !

Examples:

Discontinuation of the 150 metre height limit, distance flights, joint use of controlled airspace, tow starts, double seater flights, slimmed down air radio reports and good value insurance premiums etc.
