Sepp Gschwendtner: Fire and Ice at the Ozone display, a little warmth in mid-winter, Conny tell us how it works...

Conny: Originally the idea came from the Scandinavian countries but this one was made for us by an old hangglider pilot from Hochries. With a chainsaw the insides are cut out to make room for a fire, and at the same time the chimney is formed.

Sepp Gschwendtner: It certainly gives of some welcome warmth, and looks the part too!

I’m now talking to Stefan Thaler from the Stubai Valley police, Stefan – is everybody behaving themselves?

Stefan Thaler: Super – up in the sky there’s no holding back, but on the roads everyone is keeping to the speed limits!

Sepp Gschwendtner: but you’re a pilot too aren’t you?

Stefan Thaler: yes – I still have a lot of fun flying, even though I don’t have quite so much free time as I used too.

Sepp Gschwendtner: Here’s Norman Lausch, one of our top national team pilots – Norman, you work in Korea but you specially came over here for the Stubai Cup?

Norman Lausch: Correct – on Thursday Gin gave me a special holiday to present his new gliders, and on Friday I was sitting on the plane. I’m a little jet-lagged, but it’s great to be here!

Sepp Gschwendtner: Let’s hear what some of the spectators have to say about the event.. do you find it interesting?

..it’s always interesting here – the Stubai Cup is a definite must every year!

Sepp Gschwendtner: and have you tested a new glider?

..yes, we’ve just landed. It’s always great to be able to test all the newest products, see the new developments and demonstrations – always well worth a visit.

Toni Bender: Looking a the number of people who are here, in spite of the rotten weather, it’s good to see that there’s still a lot of interest in the sport.

Oliver Rössel: The Stubai valley is well protected, and you can often still fly here even when the weather elsewhere is not so brilliant.

Sepp Gschwendtner: Here at the Stubai Cup we have a collection of the world’s elite: Alex Hofer – world champion, Hausi Bollinger – world champion and Kaspar Henny – X-Alps champion. What are you up to here in the Stubai Valley?

Hausi Bollinger: we’re watching carefully!

Sepp Gschwendtner: not flying?

Alex Hofer: I’ll join the others in the air for the competition.

Kaspar Henny: I’m more used to walking after the X-Alps, at the moment I’m enjoying the warmth here, but I’ll be in the air too today.

Achim Joos: The world cup victory back in November still feels like yesterday, but I’m looking forward to the new 2004 season.

Mike Küng: It’s icy cold, but the best flights are always those when flying doesn’t look possible!

Franz: we’re the Renegades: this is Wolf, Pauli and Gerhard.

Monika Eller: ..it’s great to see all the top stars here in Stubai once again!
