Airworthiness advisory

dhvlogo
Date27.10.2000
SubjectFor Para- and Hangglider harnesses, which are equipped with "Cobra" belt buckels from AustriAlpin

At several paraglider harnesses of different manufacturers the rivets of the belt buckles " Cobra " from AustriAlpin slipped out. The consequence from this is in the most unfavorable case an opening of the belt buckle.

The DHV has decided on the following precautionary safety measures:

  1. At all Para-und Hangglider harnesses, which are equipped with "Cobra" belt buckles from AustriAlpin, the belt buckles must be checked. By means of a pointed article (awl, screwdriver etc..) it is to press against the rivet alternating from both sides (see figures). If the rivet moves, then this belt buckle is incorrect.

  2. Incorrect belt buckles must be exchanged.

This airworthiness instruction comes into force when it is published in the News for Paragliders and Hang Gliders (NfGH). The precautionary safety measure must be carried out before the equipment is flown again.

The Check has to be done by the manufacturer of the Para-und Hangglider harnesses or by the owner of the harness himself.

The Exchange of the incorrect belt buckles has to be done by the manufacturer of the Para-und Hangglider harnesses.
